Back in the days of Grunge, one band stood out the most. Nirvana were the defining band of the decade and although certain deeply saddening circumstances led the group to disband, there are a few plus points we may still take from this tragic event.
During the writing and touring days of Nirvana, Dave Grohl (the bands drummer) would take a guitar everywhere he went. This wouldn’t seem bizarre today, I mean look at the likes of Phil Collins or Ringo Starr. Drummer songwriters aren’t all that uncommon.
Throughout the days of band harmony, Dave never once played Kurt (Kurt Cobain-RIP) his songs due to a feeling of awe and inferiority. However in 1994 Kurt tragically died, leaving initially nothing but grief but in some deep sense also leaving room for Dave to grow and build on the songs he had written.
In 1995 Dave recorded an album and Called it ‘Foo Fighters’ he played every instrument and sung the vocals throughout the whole record (apart from guitar on one track). This record as we know it is the Foo Fighters first release and to this day has remained a hit but most importantly out of the ashes of something horrible has grown something very beautiful.
The Blasst team just wanted to say…….
Thank you Dave.
